THANKSGIVING FOR CHRIST’S DEATH & RESURRECTION
Romans 4:25:
He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.
1. Thank God for Jesus who wilfully accepted to be delivered over to death for our sins. What a sacrifice!! Thank God for raising Him to life for our justification. We are grateful that we stand without condemnation because of Jesus’ resurrection.
Romans 6:4
4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
2. Thank God that Jesus’ resurrection enables us to live a new life. Thank God for the transformation that has taken place in your own life – the peace that passes human understanding, the freedom to worship God, the ability to understand the word of God, the desire to do good, the ability to forgive, the fruit of the Spirit, etc.
1 Peter 1:3
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
3. Through the resurrection of Jesus, we are born into a living hope. We can face the future with confidence regardless of how bleak it looks. We remain hopeful in troubled times and can give hope to others.
Ephesians 1:18-23
18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
4. Thank God that the resurrection power lives in us and is able to raise us to positions of authority. Thank God that He counted us worthy to be recipients of such a mighty power and for all the exploits we are destined for because of this power.
5. Thank God that the resurrection seats Christ far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. Thank God that He placed all things under Jesus’ feet and appointed him head over everything for the church.
